The head of the Slovak government promised to veto Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.
Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico said that Ukraine's entry into NATO will lead to World War III.
He spoke about this in an interview on the Slovak media platform InfoVojna.
According to Robert Fico, who takes the same anti-Ukrainian position as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Slovakia will veto Ukraine’s accession to NATO as long as he has the opportunity to influence Slovak policy.
“The party that constitutes the majority in the Slovak government [i.e. Fico's party] will not agree with Ukraine's membership in NATO, because this would be the beginning of the Third World War,” said he.
At the same time, the Slovak Prime Minister believes that “this [Ukrainian membership in NATO] will never happen.”
At the same time, Robert Fico does not object to Ukraine joining the EU, although he claims that this will take many years.
“If in order to support Ukraine, it was necessary to make such an overrated political gesture, I have no problems with it… But it [Ukraine] must fulfill all the conditions,” the politician concluded.< /p>
Recall that Polish President Andrzej Duda considers Ukraine’s membership in NATO “invaluable” from the point of view of his country’s national interests.
