In addition to the aircraft, the pilots must also be trained.

Ukraine is working to ensure that other countries, primarily the United States, in particular, join the aviation coalition.

People's Deputy, Deputy Chairman of the Council Committee on National Security and Defense Intelligence Agency, head of the permanent delegation of Ukraine to the NATO PA Yegor Chernev spoke about this on the air of the “Unified News” melemarathon.

“We are working on this so that other countries, primarily the United States in particular, join this coalition and still we receive the necessary minimum (modern fighters – ed.) so that we close our skies and help our air forces repel attacks, both missile and drone, and aircraft on the collision course,” the deputy said.

He also noted that in addition to aircraft, pilots and personnel for servicing fighters must also be trained, and training takes months.

“Unfortunately, there are not many bases for training on F-16 aircraft, firstly, because many European countries, for example Denmark, which trained our pilots this year, are switching to the F-35 and closing their schools for pilots. That is, we are looking for different opportunities in different countries in order to increase the number of pilots who must undergo training,” Yegor emphasized. Chernev.

He noted that American partners have several F-16 training bases, and pilots from other countries that have F-16s are trained at some of them.

“There are certain agreements here, there are certain steps to increase the number of places for pilots. Because the United States also trains our pilots, but today the number of places is quite small. I hope that it will be increased soon,” the MP said. .

The MP noted that there are also several bases in Europe with which negotiations are also underway to train Ukrainian pilots for additional F-16 aircraft.

Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky officially confirmed in his greeting on the occasion of Air Force Day on August 4 that Ukraine had received the first F-16 aircraft from the West.
