The State Border Service and the US Embassy recently signed a joint action plan to implement a $ 20 million international technical assistance project. During 2022, these funds will be spent on strengthening the border of Ukraine with Belarus and Russia.
– We are sincerely grateful to our partners for their help in increasing the capacity of the service. The result of our cooperation was a new project of international technical assistance. Taking into account old and new challenges, it is aimed at the security of the northern and eastern borders of Ukraine, – explained the head of the State Border Service Serhiy Deineko.
According to him, we are talking about the acquisition of modern video recording equipment and unmanned systems , individual protection of border guards, as well as ensuring their location in the field, reinforced with transport and communications.
Deineko said that in cooperation with the US Department of State on the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program the other day also another project with funding of $ 4.5 million has been registered.
– According to it, the partners will help us in the development of the border infrastructure. In particular, this will help to build up the agency's capabilities with elements used in the arrangement of the border and the development of remote monitoring systems, the head of the State Border Guard Service said.
According to a recent survey conducted by the Sociological Group Rating 6-8 December, increased negative attitude among Ukrainians towards Russia and Belarus.
In particular, 72% of citizens consider Russia a hostile country. The number of respondents who consider Belarus a hostile state has doubled over the year – from 22% to 48%.
