The technological process of joining will take several weeks.
On Monday, February 28, the European Commission and the European Grids Association agreed to start the process of urgent accession of Ukraine to the single EU energy grid.
This was announced on her Twitter by the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.
According to her, a political agreement has now been reached, and the technological process of accession will take several weeks.
“We are one step closer to synchronizing the Ukrainian power grid with the European one. There is political readiness – now we need to make it a reality! – wrote in the microblog Kadri Simson.
By the way, she illustrated her post with her own photo, in which the European Commissioner is dressed in a Ukrainian vyshyvanka.

At a press conference following an emergency meeting of the EU Council, Kadri Simson clarified that over the past few days there have been constant contacts with Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko on this issue.
“The only project that has been our common priority for a long time is the synchronization of the Ukrainian energy system with the European continental grid instead of the Russian one. I spoke today with the Chairman of the Board of ENTSO-E, and he expressed strong support for an early synchronization,” said the European Commissioner.
Recall, on Monday, February 28, the presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia in an open letter called for the immediate granting of Ukraine the status of a candidate country for the European Union. This happened after President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for membership in the European Union, which he asks to consider under a special procedure – as soon as possible.
