The government of Ukraine hopes to return the captured Ukrainian soldiers from Serpent's Island in the near future. They want to exchange our soldiers for Russian sailors.
The Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Irina Vereshchuk, stressed that Ukraine saved 11 sailors of the Russian Federation, whom they want to give away for the release of our people from captivity.
– They (Russia, – Ed.) stated the desire to take back their sailors who were rescued. They drowned in the Black Sea. And I hope that we will remove them soon. But the fact is that there are not only sailors. As it turned out, the 92 people they captured, — Vereshchuk noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister spoke about the appeal to her by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, about the possibility of a parity exchange: sailors for sailors, drivers for drivers, and so on.
– I say: fine, but tell me, please, and who should we change for our city heads, who were captured by the invaders? Do we need to involve your civilians as well? What should we do if you are talking about a parity exchange? Prisoners of war have their own exchange order, — Vereshchuk emphasized.
