Ukraine has signed an agreement with China for the supply of almost 2 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech, the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.
“The contract for the supply to the territory of our state was signed with the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company Lekhim JSC, which, according to the official confirmation of Sinovac Biotech, is the only authorized representative of the vaccine manufacturer in Ukraine. We are talking about the purchase of 1,913,316 doses at a price of UAH 504 per dose … The first batch of vaccine in the amount of 700,000 doses will be delivered to Ukraine within 30 days after official registration in China, or by one of the competent authorities of the United States of America, Great Britain, The Swiss Confederation, Japan, Australia, Canada, Israel, India, Mexico, Brazil, or a centralized procedure by the competent authority of the European Union, ”the statement said.
Earlier, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Health, Mikhail Radutsky, said that vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine would be free for citizens.
On December 12, the global mechanism to ensure the availability of vaccines against COVID-19, Covax, launched by the World Health Organization (WHO), officially approved Ukraine's request for a vaccine against coronavirus infection. About 8 million doses of vaccines should be delivered to the country.
