Ukraine started using Clearview AI facial recognition system

On Saturday, March 12, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine began using a facial recognition system . The American startup Clearview AI offered its assistance in uncovering the Russian occupiers, combating disinformation and identifying the dead. Reuters writes about this, referring to the director of the company, Hoan Ton-That.

The founder of the startup told the publication that Clearview has more than 2 billion images from the Russian social network VKontakte from a database of more than 10 billion photos.

And Lee Woloski, an adviser to Clearview and a former diplomat under US Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, explained:

Ukraine has received free access to the powerful Clearview AI facial recognition search engine, which allows, among other things, to check people at checkpoints.
