Sikorsky said that there is almost a consensus on the need to support Ukraine.
The majority agrees that Ukraine needs to be supported for at least another year to convince the Russian president that peace is possible only under fair conditions.
This opinion was expressed by the head of Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski, writes Polska Agencja Prasowa SA.
“There is almost a consensus that Ukraine needs to be supported for at least another year to convince the Russian president that a possible peace should be on fair terms,” Sikorski said.
As Sikorski said during a meeting of ministers at NATO headquarters in Brussels, the situation is not yet favorable enough for Russia to agree to peace on fair terms.
He noted that Poland hopes for concrete results from the NATO summit in June 2025 in The Hague, in particular filling operational plans with real capabilities, updating and strengthening the missile and air defense defense.
According to him, Poland also plans to raise issues of hybrid threats, in particular sabotage, arson and the information war that Russia is waging against countries such as Georgia, Moldova and Romania. An important aspect is the exchange of intelligence information, in particular in the context of Donald Tusk's initiative to patrol the Baltic Sea to counter the aggressive actions of Russian ships.
Recall that Poland has determined the category of Ukrainians who will be deported without any conditions. It was also reported that Polish President Andrzej Duda signed amendments to the law on temporary protection for Ukrainians, extending their stay in Poland until September 30, 2025. The changes also concern child care payments, including the “800+” and “good start” programs, and require that children study in Polish schools in order not to lose the aid.
