A secret list of weapons that Ukraine wants to receive from Merz has appeared in German media.
Germany has stopped publishing information about new arms deliveries since the new government led by Chancellor Merz came to power. Officially, this is done to “keep Putin in the dark.” Critics say it is done to avoid having to justify missed or delayed deliveries to the public. Ukraine also adheres to this secret agreement to avoid alienating its ally.
The secret list that Ukraine is now demanding from Chancellor Merz was published by the German publication Bild.
Requests for support amount to billions of euros. Ukrainian military planners are said to have presented it to German government officials. The list is provided by Bild, divided into three categories:
Particular attention is being paid to the IRIS-T air defense system: Kyiv is asking Berlin for four new launchers, as well as 2,000 guided missiles (1,500 for the IRIS-T SLM medium-range system, 500 for the IRIS-T SLS short-range system) and 200,000 40-mm missiles.
As for armored vehicles, the Ukrainian list includes 1,000 mine protection vehicles, 200 tracked vehicles, 30 armored mine clearing vehicles, and up to 30 WiSENT armored engineering vehicles. In addition, 200 all-terrain vehicles will be needed for special operations forces.
To protect against Russian drones and intelligence technology, Kyiv also wants 1,000 GPS jammers and 200 mobile ground-based target detection radars.
Military circles and representatives of German industry confirmed the existence of this list to BILD.
Earlier it was reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed strengthening Ukraine's air defense with US President Donald Trump.
