Ukraine is considering holding the Winter Olympic Games in 2030. This was stated by the Minister of Youth and Sports Vadim Gutzeit on Friday, February 18, in the Verkhovna Rada, at the hour of questions to the government.

“Only in the last two years have we begun real construction of infrastructure for summer sports. Yes, we do not have enough infrastructure for winter sports, and we are working on it, we see where what to build, where what to carry out.

We are now looking at how to bring and host the Winter Olympic Games in Ukraine in 2030. We are working on it,” he said.

In August 2021, the minister stated that Ukraine is looking forward to and is working on hosting the Summer and Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2030 and 2032.

Earlier, Vadim Gutzeit said that at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, one should not expect many medals from representatives of the Ukrainian Olympic team.

At the moment, the only medal in Ukraine's treasury at the 2022 Games was won by freestyler Oleksandr Abramenko. He became a silver medalist in Beijing in ski acrobatics.

Thanks to Abramenko's silver, Ukraine finally got into the medal standings of the 2022 Olympics, where it now occupies 23rd place.
