Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal announced the government's decision to extend the emergency situation in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic until June 30, TASS reports.

According to him, all quarantine restrictions will remain for this period, despite the fact that the situation with an increase in new infections and the burden on the health care system is stabilizing. “However, this does not definitely mean that we can return to mass festivities, parties, crowds. We must remain prudent and careful, ”Shmygal said.

He added that the decision to extend the emergency situation primarily concerns the authorities and government departments, since they must be in constant readiness to counteract the spread of infection.

The prime minister also urged citizens to comply with all prescribed restrictions and exercise prudence, especially during the May holidays and Easter. We encourage people to stay at home these days. “On Friday (April 23) we will discuss the situation with the council of churches and religious organizations,” he said.

According to the latest data, about two million people have been infected with the coronavirus in Ukraine. On March 4, the government announced the beginning of the third wave of the spread of the infection. Vaccination against COVID-19 in the country began on February 24. It is performed with Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
