The new dress of the Ukrainian national soccer team, presented by association president Andrei Pawelko, with a map of the country including the Crimean peninsula, caused outrage in Russia. Russia has occupied Crimea since 2014 and regards it as part of its territory, but internationally it is regarded as Ukrainian territory. After the presentation of the EM clothing, Russian politicians also complained about the slogans on them.
The Ukrainians will meet Austria, among others, at the EM from next week (June 21).
