Ukraine has imposed sanctions against 13 Russian companies operating in the aviation sector, Aleksey Goncharenko, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, a member of the European Solidarity faction, said on a Telegram channel.

He published an order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It says that sanctions are being imposed against Pobeda Airlines (a subsidiary of Aeroflot), as well as Vologda Aviation Enterprise JSC, Krasavia JSC, Komiaviatrans JSC, Azimut Aviation JSC, Aviation Company JSC Iraero, Aviaservice LLC and other companies.

At a meeting of the Ukrainian government, which took place on January 27, it was said that sanctions against Russian airlines are being imposed for flights to Crimea, which Kiev considers to be an occupied territory. In addition to the aforementioned companies, sanctions will be imposed on Tulpar Air, Aerolimuzin, Simargla, the 223rd flight unit of the Ministry of Defense, as well as Aviation Technologies Investments Service and the State Air Traffic Management Corporation in Russia.

Now these companies are banned from flights over the territory of Ukraine and transit of resources. The sanctions against these legal entities will be imposed for three years. In addition, the Ukrainian authorities intend to ask the international community to impose restrictions on these companies. The corresponding notes will be sent to the USA, EU countries, etc.

According to the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krykliy, the list of airlines that are included in the sanctions list is still subject to approval at the level of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). “We propose to accept and submit to the NSDC for consideration proposals on the application of new sanctions with a complete ban on flights over Ukraine against 13 Russian air carriers violating the procedure for using the airspace of Ukraine by flying within the prohibited zone over the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol,” he said he.

In 2014, Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum held among the inhabitants of the peninsula, most of whom were in favor of joining Russia. Ukraine and the Western states consider the incident an annexation. Moscow insists that the procedure was carried out within the framework of international law and the question of ownership of the peninsula is historically closed.
