The modernization of the British Navy will help the country to become more active in the Black Sea and the Baltic. This is stated in the strategy of modernization of the armed forces of the United Kingdom published by the Ministry of Defense of the country, RIA Novosti reports.

“We will expand our presence in the Black Sea region, the High North, the Baltic and the Western Balkans (where we are implementing a new regional initiative to train allied troops). The presence will be built within the framework of multi-stakeholder groups, ”the text says.

In the same document, Britain officially declared Russia the “greatest” nuclear and military threat to European security.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin said that Moscow does not consider Great Britain a hostile power and stated the death of political relations with London.

On March 16, Great Britain recognized Russia as one of the main and acute threats. The review of the security, defense and foreign policy of the United Kingdom states that London will defend itself “against any threat posed by the Russian side.” In addition, the country plans to send its armed forces abroad much more often, as well as to increase the defense budget.
