UK to lift tough restrictions over COVID-19

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the lockdown imposed in the country due to the coronavirus will end on December 2. However, according to TASS, from December 3, a toughened three-tier system of local restrictions will begin to operate in the United Kingdom.

Johnson said that once the lockdown ends, UK residents will be able to meet on the street, but in groups of six, non-food stores, gyms and hairdressers will also reopen.

The three-tier system of local restrictive measures, which will take effect on December 3, implies that at the first level of the threat of the spread of the virus, pubs and restaurants will close at 23:00, but all shops, beauty salons, gyms and shopping centers will be open.

The second level entails a ban on meetings between people who do not live under the same roof, in closed rooms.

The highest threat level – the third – means the closure of pubs, gyms, as well as the cancellation of concerts and sports events.

Earlier it was reported that an interim analysis of clinical trials of the vaccine, developed by the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, together with specialists from Oxford, showed that its average effectiveness is 70 percent.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called the effectiveness of the British vaccine “fantastic result.”
