Moscow. The 21st of April. INTERFAX.RU – Boris Johnson announced that the UK has begun to develop tablets or capsules for the treatment of COVID-19 at home. This was reported on the BBC News website.

The Prime Minister expressed the hope that they will appear by autumn and help fight the expected third wave.

A task force is currently being created to oversee the work and future trials of a new drug. When Johnson introduced the new target group at a televised press briefing, he acknowledged the growing number of cases abroad and the likelihood of a new wave of a pandemic.

The prime minister added: “We must, as far as possible, learn to live with this disease as we live with other diseases.”

Antiviral drugs may be a third defense, along with vaccinations, including booster shots, and mass testing, Johnson said.
