The UK needs to introduce laws to counter foreign interference. This call was made by former MI6 intelligence officer Christopher Steele, according to BBC News.
“We can say that we are somewhat soft – we do not have enough“ toothy ”regulators in this area and legislation that is suitable for the current situation,” he told reporters.
According to Steele, Russia and China are the main threats – and the United States is much better protected from their interference than Great Britain.
It is noted that it was this intelligence officer who was investigating the alleged connection between Trump's presidential campaign and the Russian government on the part of Britain in 2017. It was not possible to prove this connection.
A day earlier, it was reported that British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab would travel to Estonia and Norway to discuss with these countries the Russian threat: “disinformation” and “destabilizing activities” emanating from Russia.
