In the UK, a large-scale trial of a new blood testing system has started, thanks to which it is planned to detect more than 50 types of cancer at an early stage. Reported by Reuters. Approximately 140 thousand volunteers will take part in the testing.
A representative from Grail, which created the new test, explained how it works. According to him, the early signs of the development of cancer are detected by changes in a person's DNA, which occur before the first symptoms of cancer appear. 2 The new system was named Galleri.
“We need to look closely at the Galleri test to see if it can significantly reduce the number of late-stage cancers diagnosed,” said one of the developers.
The first results are expected to be received by 2023. If the trials prove the effectiveness of Galleri, the study will continue in the coming years with even more volunteers.
As the site kp.ru previously wrote, British scientists noticed that the symptoms of coronavirus have changed a lot over the year. Their set and strength depends on the viral load and vaccination status.
