From the night of February 27 until the morning of February 28, a wave of attacks by “unknown drones” swept across Russia. Some of them were probably heading for Russian gas and oil storage facilities, as they fell a few meters from their targets.

Drones, in particular, flew to the Belgorod and Bryansk regions, the Krasnodar Territory and even St. Petersburg and the Moscow region.

TSN.ua collected everything that is known about the UAV attack on Russia.

So, late in the evening on February 27, three drones fell in Belgorod. According to the Russian Telegram channel Mash, the drones were flying towards an electrical substation. The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that no one was injured in the attack, but there was some damage.

The oil depot of Rosneft in Tuapse was also attacked by unknown drones. According to local telegram channels, they were filled with explosives. At the same time, official sources speak only of “two unidentified aircraft.” The locals themselves say that two explosions were heard at the oil depot.

The Russian telegram channel Baza claims that the drones fell 100 meters from the oil storage facility. As a result, the boiler room was damaged, and two funnels one and a half meters deep were found next to the house. The Russian channel Astra also notes that a barracks with the military of the Russian Defense Ministry is located not far from the site of the explosions. Local authorities did not comment on the drone attack. According to them, the fire occurred in the utility building and did not reach the oil tanks.

On the night of February 28, an “unidentified aircraft” also fell in Adygea (Krasnodar Territory). According to the head of the republic, Murat Kumpilov, the device landed in the village of Novy in the Giaginsky district, about 90 kilometers from Krasnodar and 160 kilometers from Tuapse. No one was hurt, the outbuildings of the farm were slightly damaged.

Another drone was shot down over the Surazh district of the Bryansk region. The head of the region, Alexander Bogomaza, spoke about this on the morning of February 28, accusing the Armed Forces of Ukraine of launching a drone. As a result of the attack, no one was injured, there was no damage. Bogomaz did not give any other details.

Attack by drones on St. Petersburg and Moscow region

In large cities of Russia, too, it was restless. The airspace over St. Petersburg was also closed due to an “unknown object”. The first reports that Pulkovo Airport is temporarily not accepting or sending planes appeared around 10:20 am Kyiv time on February 28.

According to Baza, the “Carpet” plan was introduced in St. Petersburg, announced when crossing the border illegally, as well as with the appearance of unknown objects in the airspace. In the air, media reported, lifted fighters. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation transmitted information to the Pulkovo service that an unknown object was seen 160-200 kilometers from St. Petersburg. Local media reported that the object “looks like a large drone.”

At about 11:50 Moscow time, the sky over St. Petersburg was again opened for flights, and Pulkovo began to receive flights again.

In the Moscow region, the drone fell right next to the Gazprom station. According to Russian telegram channels, the drone was found 100 meters from the Voskresensk gas compressor station in the village of Gubastovo, Kolomna district. According to preliminary data, there was no explosion after the drone fell. The authorities of the Moscow Region, the RF Ministry of Defense and Gazprom have not yet commented on these reports.

How Russia commented on the attack by drones

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that on the night of February 28, the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly used drones to attack objects in the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea. According to the Russian Federation, the drones were suppressed by electronic warfare forces.

“Both drones lost control and deviated from the flight path. One UAV fell in the field, the other drone, deviating from the trajectory, did not damage the attacked civilian infrastructure,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
