Khamzat Chimaev
The head of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White confirmed that the Swedish athlete of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev will lead the organization's tournament. This is reported by journalist Helen Yee in her Twitter account.
White has not yet named Chimaev's rival, but emphasizes that such will be the fighter in the organization's rating. Thus, the Swede will be given the opportunity to lead the tournament and have a five-round fight after three fights in the UFC. Earlier it was reported that the Brazilian Damian Maya could become Chimaev's opponent.
Chimayev, who has been compared to Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov, won three wins in 66 days and set a UFC record. The native of Chechnya completed the last fight in 17 seconds, knocking out an opponent.
The head of the UFC declared a special attitude towards Chimaev. The latter made an impressive debut in the organization, having played the first two fights in ten days.
Chimaev has nine victories in nine fights.
