UAE will send a woman into space for the first time
The UAE authorities have named the names of two new astronauts who will go into space. Nure al-Matrush will become the first female astronaut in the Arab world, Vesti reports.
According to the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the astronauts will soon join the training program of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The day before, the Soyuz MS-18 rocket, named after the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, departed from Baikonur to the ISS. It has a crew of three on board.
The crew members, like almost the entire cosmonaut corps, were vaccinated against the coronavirus. Because of the pandemic, there were medical examinations and a strict quarantine regime in Baikonur every day.
