Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that Russia has not made any final decisions on the current situation around Ukraine, and the United States intends to act very carefully in this direction. It is reported by TASS.
According to him, Washington believes that there is still time and space for diplomacy. The United States assumes that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has not made a final decision,” Kirby said.
“No one, with the possible exception of Mr. Putin, wants to see some kind of military conflict break out in Europe. Therefore, we are acting very carefully, ”the Pentagon spokesman added.
Earlier, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan called the timing of Russia's “invasion” of Ukraine. He stated that it could happen any day. “We are in a window of opportunity. Russia can take military action against Ukraine any day, or it will happen in a couple of weeks, or Russia will choose a diplomatic path, ”Sullivan suggested.
