U.S. Approves Pfizer Booster Vaccine for People 65+
The US Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has approved the use of booster doses of Pfizer vaccine for people aged 65 and older, reports TASS.
A third dose is also reported to be recommended for individuals at significant risk of severe disease.
It is noted that the regulator did not support the use of additional doses of the drug for vaccination of persons aged 18 to 64, who, due to their type of activity, are especially at risk of becoming infected.
Earlier, the director of the National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases of the United States, Anthony Fauci, said that thanks to a mass vaccination campaign, the death rate from the new coronavirus in the country will not exceed 1 million people.
Earlier, Japanese scientists estimated the effectiveness of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine at 85-96%.
