Two high-ranking German officials are suspected of collaborating with the Kremlin: how they “lit up”

by alex

Two high-ranking officials in the government of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz are suspected of working for Russia.

They often traveled to the Russian Federation and gave inaccurate data on the occupancy of German gas storage facilities and the operation of Nord Stream 2.

This is reported by the German publication Zeit.

The investigation against two officials in the Ministry of Finance was initiated by the Minister of Economy and Energy, as well as the Vice Chancellor Robert Gabeck. He turned to the Federal Service for the Protection of the German Constitution with a request to check two of his subordinates who worked for a long time in the ministry. He suspected officials of falsifying information about filling German storage facilities with gas reserves, reports on the energy security of the state, and they also sabotaged the government's decision not to commission Nord Stream 2.

Counterintelligence has already established that one of the suspects traveled to “training” in Russia. An investigation is currently ongoing to determine whether these officials were Russia's “moles” in the German government.

Recall that Germany proposes to suspend visa facilitation with Russia.
