In 2022, the Ministry of Digital Industry wants to introduce two-factor user identification on the State Services website, Izvestia writes.
According to the press service of the department, a new requirement will appear for additional protection of citizens' data. They will need to enter not only a username and password, but also the code that will be sent to the SMS.
Sources close to the department said that during the coronavirus pandemic, the development of remote services took place. Thus, the number of profiles has exceeded 100 million, but only one-factor identification has been established to enter about 90 percent of them.
“The second factor of authorization on the portal of public services, which we plan to introduce by default, will help to further protect user data and prevent fraud,” the ministry's press service explained.
Earlier, the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev said that it is planned to start issuing electronic passports to citizens in three regions of Russia by the end of 2022. The passport will be presented in two forms – a smart card, which should replace the traditional paper passport for everyone, and the necessary information will be recorded on the smart card chip.
