Moscow. 11th August. INTERFAX.RU – Two earthquakes were registered on Wednesday night in the Pacific Ocean near the Kuril Islands, the Sakhalin branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences told Interfax.
The first earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 was with an epicenter 119 km east of the Malokurilskoye village (Shikotan island) at a depth of 54 km, the second with a magnitude 5 east of Simushir island at a depth of 69 km.
The tsunami alarm was not announced, no one was hurt.
“Data on the perceptibility of these seismic events in the settlements of the islands have not been received,” – said the agency's interlocutor.
