Two cases of thrombosis in coronavirus vaccinated in Estonia
In Estonia, one person died after being vaccinated against coronavirus infection with the drug AstraZeneca, said Alar Irs, medical adviser at the country's medicines department.
He clarified that there were two cases of thrombosis. An 82-year-old man who received the Pfizer / BionTech vaccine developed a blood clot in a blood vessel in his eye, causing the patient to have vision problems, but no threat to life. Irs added that the thrombosis is a side effect of the medication the pensioner was taking.
In addition, a patient who received the AstraZeneca vaccine has died, the official said. Nevertheless, Irs stressed that the country will continue to use this vaccine, because the link between thrombosis and vaccination has not yet been established.
On the eve it became known that the Lithuanian authorities decided to temporarily stop vaccination against coronavirus with the drug AstraZeneca. Cases of unwanted side effects have been recorded in the country. Prior to this, AstraZeneca vaccination was suspended in a number of other countries, including Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Cyprus, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and others. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is conducting an investigation to show whether the drug is safe or not.
