Two ships of the British Royal Navy collided in the Persian Gulf.
Two ships of the Royal Navy collided in the waters of the Persian Gulf near Bahrain UK – Chiddingfold and Bangor.
This is reported by the UK Defense Journal with reference to a representative of the British Navy.
According to preliminary data, there were no casualties. Teams went to the scene to assess the damage and develop an action plan to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
“We are aware of an incident involving two mine sweepers in Bahrain. There were no casualties as a result of this incident and it would be inappropriate to comment further while the investigation is ongoing,” a Royal Navy spokesman said.

It is worth noting that mine sweepers such as Chiddingfold are involved in mine detection and patrol, as well as sea defense and maritime security. These small but highly effective mine countermeasures vessels feature fiberglass reinforced plastic hulls to conceal their presence from the threat of sea mines.
The sonars of such ships are capable of detecting and classifying an object the size of a football at a distance of up to 1000 meters, which allows clearing the way of mines and providing safe passage for large ships.
Recall, in December 2023, Britain announced that it would transfer two minesweepers to Ukraine. The transfer is part of a maritime initiative for Ukraine. The country already has two such ships, Cherkassy and Chernigov, but due to the Russian invasion they are still in British ports. The minesweeper is designed to search and destroy sea mines using naval underwater drones.
However, Turkey did not give permission to the minesweepers that Great Britain donated to Ukraine to enter the Black Sea.
