On August 3, the analogue of stories on Instagram will disappear on Twitter – the ability to make posts that disappear after 24 hours. This is stated in the official blog of the social network.
The temporary tweets were called Fleets. “We haven't seen the growth of users joining Fleets as we hoped. Because of this, the Fleets feature will no longer be available on Twitter on August 3, ”the message says.
The developers found out that Fleets were mainly used by those who already had a Twitter account before. The Twitter administration has promised that it will come up with other updates to involve as many users as possible in using the social network.
“We are developing Twitter and trying bigger and bolder things. Some of these updates, like Fleets, are speculative and won't work. We will be strict, we will evaluate what works, and we will know how to move on and what to focus on, ”the blog says.
Twitter launched its version of stories in November 2020. Users were able to post text messages, photos or videos that disappear after 24 hours. Twitter hoped that the new feature would help “reduce the pressure” on people by allowing them to “share momentary thoughts.”
