Twitter started warning users about skirmishes in conversations

by alex

Twitter announced testing of a new feature that will help users understand when they are engaging in a potentially conflicting conversation. The social network will display clues to help participants determine the intensity of the dialogue in advance. Twitter has previously started warning of “potential abuse” before posting.

“Have you ever wanted to understand the atmosphere of a conversation before joining it? We are testing hints on Android and iOS, which will warn you that the conversation you want to join may be hot or aggressive, ”the company said.

If the person joins the conversation even after the warning, Twitter will remind of the company's values and ask the interlocutors to take better care of each other. They will receive a message with the following text:

Remember the person: Respectful communication makes Twitter better. Facts matter: fact checking helps everyone. Diverse perspectives have value: discovering new perspectives can reinforce your own.

The feature is still under development and is available to a limited number of users. It is unclear how many people are testing the new feature and when it will become available to everyone.

In May, Twitter began warning of “potential abuse” before posting. The social network tested the feature for about a year and found that the hints help reduce the number of insults on the platform. Now all social network users in the iOS and Android app in English see warnings if their tweets are “potentially dangerous or offensive”.

In September, “Secret” said that Twitter began testing communities of interest. In them, users can unite to discuss common issues. Some of the early posts focused on popular Twitter topics like dogs, the weather, sneakers, skincare, and astrology.
