Moscow. July 9. INTERFAX.RU – Twitter has challenged in the appellate instance fines of 19 million rubles imposed on him by a magistrate in Moscow for refusing to remove content banned in the Russian Federation.
“The court received six appeals against the rulings of the magistrate against Twitter. Another complaint was received against the protocol against TikTok,” Zulfiya Gurinchuk, press secretary of the Tagansky court, told Interfax.
According to her, the court hearings will be held on 4 August.
On May 27, the magistrate of the judicial district N422 of the Tagansky district of Moscow found Twitter guilty of six administrative offenses. The organization was fined 19 million rubles.
At the same time, TikTok was also fined 1.5 million rubles for not removing prohibited content.
In March, the social network Twitter has already received 8.9 million rubles in fines for similar offenses, TikTok was also fined 2.6 million rubles.
If the court of appeal denies the company's complaints, then Twitter and TikTok will have to pay a total of 27.9 million and 4 million rubles for violation of Russian law, respectively.
In addition, on July 28, the court will consider similar complaints about RUB 26 million written out by Facebook for refusing to remove prohibited content.
As previously reported in Roskomnadzor (RKN), since February 11, the service has been drawing up administrative protocols in relation to various social networks that have not removed or untimely removed calls, including to minors, to participate in unauthorized actions.
According to RKN, the social network Twitter, whose traffic in Russia has been slowing down since March 10, has still not removed 490 materials recognized as prohibited in the Russian Federation. Other social networks are in no hurry to delete prohibited content.
