The condition of three-year-old twins who survived a fatal accident on January 12 is controlled by doctors of city hospitals and invited specialists from regional medical institutions.
As of January 20, the girl’s temperature dropped. She talks, draws, asks for toys. The boy’s condition is worse, but he also started talking.
– Today the doctors asked me to bring my grandson soup so that he could eat himself, – says the children’s grandmother Irina Gordievskaya.
According to the chief physician of the city clinical multidisciplinary hospital No. 17 Dmitry Cherepov, the girl, who has a skeletal injury and a fracture of both hips, is now on a bed skeletal extension, does not sit down, her condition is stable.
The course of treatment with rehabilitation, according to the plan, should last one and a half to two months.
– Children recover with similar injuries. There will be a reminder of what happened in her life, but we will make every effort to monitor the situation during the child’s growing up and advise.
Now the girl is communicating, she has her favorite cartoons, toys, relatives are constantly with her, – says Dmitry Cherepov.
The boy continues to receive assistance in the intensive care unit of the city Hospital of Emergency and Emergency Medical Care named after Prof. A. I. Meshchaninov.
Local authorities promise to do everything necessary for the recovery of three-year-old twins.
– Children are provided with medicines and services, consultations of doctors continue. In the future, children will have a long rehabilitation process, and everything necessary will be done for their recovery–” assured the Mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov.
Psychologists are now communicating with children and relatives. Families also provide legal support.
The 32-year-old aunt of the twins, who works as a kindergarten teacher, plans to take custody of the children.

The boy was diagnosed with an open craniocerebral injury, a fracture of the base of the skull, a hip fracture. In addition, he had to have his spleen removed.
His sister suffered fractures of both thighs in the accident.
On January 18, the girl was transferred to the pediatric traumatology department of the city clinical Hospital No. 17, and her brother, who is still in the intensive care unit of pediatric neurosurgery, was disconnected from the ventilator.
In addition, after the accident, it was reported that only in the fall of 2021, the KIA driver was subjected to three administrative protocols on the fact of driving under the influence of alcohol.
None of these protocols was considered on the merits due to a shortage of judges.
