Turkmenistan obliges people to wear only white masks

by alex

The reasons for this decision are not explained. People in black or colored masks are fined.

In a number of regions of Turkmenistan, citizens were required to wear only white masks.

This is reported by Turkmen.news.

In Ashgabat, the Lebap and Balkan regions of Turkmenistan, officials and schoolchildren were required to wear white masks. The reasons for this decision are not explained.

From February 6 to February 18, checks will be carried out in the schools of Turkmenistan. For wearing black and colored masks, teachers and directors of educational institutions were threatened with reprimands . In addition, inspectors will pay attention to the appearance of students – all children must be in uniform. Girls are not allowed to put makeup on their faces, do manicures, or dye their hair. Similar requirements apply to teachers.

The ban on black and colored masks in Turkmenistan was reported back in December 2021. Then the traffic police began to stop drivers and demand that they wear only white masks.

Since the beginning of the new year, the policemen of the capital of Ashgabat began to make similar claims against pedestrians, as well as university students and schoolchildren. The amount of the fine for wearing the wrong mask, according to the publication, is 50 manat ( UAH 822 ). In the case of schoolchildren, the fine is levied on the parents.

It should be noted that at the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Turkmen authorities banned any mention of the coronavirus and even arrested people who walked the streets in medical masks. They were accused of “inciting panic”.

Following a visit by a WHO mission in July 2020, the authorities began to implement the mandatory wearing of masks. But this decision was explained not by COVID-19, but by the presence of “harmful dust from the Aral Sea” in the air. The country's authorities still insist that there is no coronavirus in Turkmenistan.

Recall that clashes between the Taliban and troops took place on the border of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. A civilian was killed and another was injured.
