On Wednesday evening, April 14, the Bashik military base in northern Iraq came under rocket fire, killing one Turkish soldier and injuring a child, according to the Turkish Defense Ministry.
“The missile attack was carried out tonight on the Bashik base in northern Iraq. One of the three missiles fell on the base, the other two – not far from the village. Our comrade died as a result of the attack, and a child living in the village was wounded, ”the ministry said in a statement posted on the official website of the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
Meanwhile, Reuters, citing a statement from the authorities of the Kurdish Autonomous Region, reported that a rocket also fell near Erbil airport in Iraqi Kurdistan. The security services believe that the target of this attack was the US military, as there is a base near the airport, which is used by the US military. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties.
