Within the framework of the creation of a joint monitoring center with Russia to control the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Turkish military went to Azerbaijan. This is reported by the NTV channel.
It is noted that the joint center will start working in January. The Turkish Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the arrival of soldiers in Azerbaijan.
Earlier, Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that Ankara had sent 60 military to Azerbaijan, thereby fulfilling the agreement on the construction of a center to control the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. “All agreements on the construction of the center between the three parties have been reached, it remains to resolve a number of issues related to construction, personnel accommodation. Our people will work together with the Russians, ”he said.
On December 1, in Nagorno-Karabakh, the transfer of territories under the control of Azerbaijan, enshrined in a trilateral agreement, was completed. The Lachin corridor, the only road linking now Armenia and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, will be controlled by Russian peacekeepers. Turkey is also participating in the conflict settlement process within the framework of a joint ceasefire control center with Russia. However, representatives of the Turkish side are not included in the peacekeeping mission.
