The Turkish 11-ton attack helicopter T929 (Atak II) will receive a Ukrainian-made two-chamber turboshaft engine with a capacity of 2.5 thousand horsepower, Defense News reports, referring to the statement of the head of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Temel Kotila.

According to him, the first flight of the T929 is scheduled for 2023. The head did not disclose details about the power plant for the helicopter.

The CEO also said that the cost of one fifth-generation Turkish fighter Turkish Fighter X (TF-X), which is being worked on by TAI, will be about $ 100 million. Kotil noted that the first flight of the aircraft should take place in 2025, and in 2029 it is planned to be adopted by the Turkish Air Force (Air Force).

It is planned to produce two TF-Xs per month. TAI's annual revenue from the related program is estimated at $ 2.4 billion. According to Kotil, 1,000 out of 4,000 engineers are working on the TF-X at the company he heads.

In March, a 19FortyFive publication said that the possible appearance in Turkey of a fifth-generation Russian fighter Su-57 would be a NATO nightmare. Thus, the publication commented on the March statement of the press secretary of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia Valery Reshetnikov, which spoke of Russia's readiness to supply Turkey with Su-35 and Su-57 fighters, as well as cooperate with Ankara on the TF- project. In September 2020, Defense News wrote that Ukraine and Turkey are seeking to deepen their military-technical cooperation, which was the subject of talks held at the end of August of the same year in Ankara.
