Turkish Airlines gave customers the opportunity to return or change tickets to Ukraine
The Turkish airline Turkish Airlines has allowed customers to return or change tickets for flights to Ukraine, TASS reports, citing a statement from the carrier.
This opportunity was given to passengers who bought tickets before February 13, 2022 inclusive, to Kiev, Odessa, Lvov, Kharkiv, Zaporozhye and Nikolaev.
“Due to the current situation in Ukraine, passengers are given an additional right to change or refund tickets, provided that the transaction is completed before February 28, 2022,” Turkish Airlines said.
The NTV channel, in turn, reports that Turkish Airlines will continue to operate flights to Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, Denys Shmygal, said that the Government of Ukraine wanted to create an insurance fund because of the threat of cessation of flights in the country's airspace due to the refusal of international insurance companies to insure aircraft making such flights. It was decided to allocate 16.6 billion hryvnia ($590 million) from the reserve fund of the state budget to the Ministry of Infrastructure, which will become a guarantee fund for flights.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko said that the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has prepared decisions for the continuation of aircraft flights over the country. According to him, they are going to be accepted at a Cabinet meeting on Sunday, February 13.
Ukrainian airline SkyUp reported that European aircraft owners (lessors) massively demanded the return of their aircraft from Ukraine.
It also became known that Ukraine will completely close the airspace for aircraft from February 14 against the background of the actions of Western insurance companies. “Not a single plane will take off or take off from the territory of Ukraine from about the middle of the day on Monday,” the source said.
