Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has tightened restrictions on New Year's holidays amid the spread of the coronavirus. It is reported by CNN Turk.

So, from 21:00 on December 31 to 05:00 on January 4, a 24-hour curfew is introduced. The head of state specified that the decision was made at a government meeting.

During the restriction period, cafes and restaurants will not operate, except for takeaway services.

On November 30, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the imposition of a daily curfew in the country. The head of state said that the movement of residents on weekdays from 21:00 to 05:00 will be limited. On weekends, going outside is completely prohibited. Baths, saunas, swimming pools and gyms have been closed since December 1. The number of visitors to shopping centers is also limited, who will be allowed inside only with a digital code.

According to the latest data, 1.8 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Turkey. 16.4 thousand people died, 1.6 million patients recovered. Over the past day, 29 617 cases of coronavirus infection were detected, 229 people died. This is the highest rate since the start of the pandemic.
