Turkey can help Ukraine with finances to complete the construction of the second An-225 Mriya aircraft, Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Oleg Urusky reported to Ukrinform.
The official said that “theoretically we can finish building one [car].” Urusky admitted that at present Ukraine cannot offer Turkey An-124 Ruslan planes, since “we need them ourselves, but we cannot build new ones”.
In April, the An-225 Mriya set a world record for the volume of cargo transported in the cargo hold of an aircraft.
In March, the plane took off for the first time after an 18-month repair.
In July 2018, Ruslan Pukhov, a member of the Public Council under the Russian Ministry of Defense, director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), said that the Russian industry was questioning the possibility of producing the An-124 Ruslan aircraft.
The current Ukrainian An-225 “Mriya” exists in a single copy. The plane took off for the first time in December 1988. At present, the An-225 “Mriya” is considered to be the most cargo-lifting aircraft in the world. Among aircraft, it is second only to the American Stratolaunch in size, which first took off in April 2019.
