Turkey started to prepare the base near Libya in case of a confrontation with Egypt

Turkey signed a military agreement with Niger to settle in the region bordering the territory of Libya. It is reported Middle East Monitor.

According to the newspaper, Ankara is interested in military cooperation in order to have a ground base in case the expected confrontation with Egypt in Libya. The agreement was signed between the Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, and President of the Niger Mahamadou Yssouf during the discussion of the tense situation in the region.

Cavusoglu in conversation with the leader of the African Republic also expressed Turkey’s intention to help Niger in the development of transport, construction, energy, mining and agriculture.

Earlier, on 20 July, it was reported that the house of representatives (the unicameral Parliament) of Egypt approved a resolution to introduce troops into the territory of other States. Thus Cairo has received permission to send troops to Libya. The decision was taken unanimously at a secret meeting of the Parliament, which did not allow any journalists or photographers.

In Libya after the murder in 2011, who ruled from 1969, Muammar Gaddafi has developed a situation of dual power. Now in the East, in the city of Tobruk, seat of the Parliament, which supports the Libyan national army is the field Marshal Khalifa Haftorah, and in the West in Tripoli — the national consensus government. While the NTC has actively supported Turkey, and on the side of the LNA are Egypt and Saudi Arabia. In this connection between Turkey and Egypt deteriorated relationship, the countries are in confrontation.
