Turkey plans to produce 20 fifth-generation fighters by 2028.
The Turkish company Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) intends to produce 20 fifth generation KAAN fighter aircraft by 2028.
This is stated in the Turkiye Newspaper with reference to a statement by TAI General Director Temel Kotil.
He reported on the new national combat aircraft KAAN, saying that the domestic fighter is better than the American F-35.

“This plane is better than the F-35. The F-35 carries 6 tons, this one carries 10 tons of ammunition. It has two engines compared to the F-35's one engine. Having two engines means more power, and radars “see” at a greater distance,” said the company’s general director.
According to him According to him, Turkey plans to provide its Air Force with 20 such fighters by 2028, and subsequently, by 2033, “many more” such aircraft.
At the same time, at the end of the decade, KAAN should receive a new Turkish-made engine: currently the aircraft uses the American General Electric F110-GE-129.
At the same time, experts perceived the statement as a PR move. In their opinion, Turkey will be forced to look for outside buyers for its aircraft in order to avoid a rapid increase in the cost of the aircraft. Pakistan is named among the program's potential partners.
