Turkish Health Minister Koca: country recorded record increase in COVID-19 cases

The daily increase in coronavirus cases in Turkey was 26,099 on Monday, a record high since November 24. Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced this on his Twitter account.
According to him, over the past day, 362,535 tests were done, 26,099 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, 157 people died. Koca linked the rise in new cases to the spread of the omicron strain. “Omicron is spreading faster than other options. An increase in the number of cases in our country is predicted, ”the head of the Ministry of Health said.
At the end of November, the Turkish Ministry of Health requested permission from the national Medicines Agency for the emergency use of the Turkish coronavirus vaccine TURKOVAC. Another measure will be an increase in fixed additional payments to doctors from the budget of the republic.
A new strain of coronavirus, code B.1.1.529, was identified in South Africa on November 11. The first confirmed cases of infection date from November 24. The strain was named with the Greek letter “omicron” and has already managed to recognize its danger at the level of the World Health Organization.
