Turkey records another daily anti-record for the number of deaths from COVID
Turkey recorded the highest rate of deaths from coronavirus per day, as well as the number of new infections, according to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
So, 188 people died, 31,219 people were infected, according to the Ministry of Health of the republic, the previous record was set on Sunday – 185 deaths.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said the pandemic has reached its third peak in several regions of Turkey, including Istanbul.
The Turkish authorities previously imposed a curfew in the country on weekdays due to the situation with the coronavirus, while a complete ban on going outside is introduced on weekends, from 21:00 Friday to 05:00 Monday. The entrance to the shopping centers is allowed only with the HES code, persons under 20 and over 65 are prohibited from using public transport.
During the pandemic in Turkey, 638.8 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were recorded, the number of deaths is 13.7 thousand people.
World Health Organization Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus said the number of new cases of coronavirus infection in the world last week decreased for the first time since September, in particular thanks to security measures adopted in Europe.
Also, the head of WHO urged to limit contacts at Christmas and New Years, avoid visiting shopping centers and, if possible, shop online.
