Ankara stands for a constructive dialogue between Russia and NATO on the situation around Ukraine. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, RIA Novosti reports.

The diplomat stressed that the Turkish side does not even want to talk about the possibility of a war between the sides. He assessed the situation as tense and hoped that negotiations would help resolve it. “NATO does not trust Russia, but it thinks that NATO wants to surround it, there is tension,” Cavusoglu said.

According to the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ankara will try to contribute to the settlement of interaction between Moscow and the North Atlantic Alliance. He noted that Russian-Turkish relations are at a good level, but Turkey is a NATO member. “As for the guarantees that the Russian Federation demands from NATO, any proposal must be mutual,” the diplomat concluded.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia's proposals on security guarantees in Europe were heard in Washington, Kiev, and in the capitals of NATO countries. He noted that Moscow's projects are pure aspirations for peace in the European region.
