“He is fine after the operation, he has no pain and is in a good mood,” writes daughter Kely Nascimento.

Football icon Pele is apparently making progress in terms of health and will be leaving the intensive care unit in the next few days after a colon tumor has been removed. This is what his daughter Kely Nascimento said in an Instagram post.

“He is fine after the operation, he has no pain and is in a good mood,” wrote Nascimento. Her 80-year-old father is “annoyed that he can only eat jelly, but he will get through it!”

Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was brought to the intensive care unit of the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo the previous week.

A suspicious lesion had previously been discovered during a routine check-up. The former goalscorer has suffered from hip problems for several years and can only move with walking aids. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, his public appearances have become even rarer.
