Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has no plans to host a G7 summit. Sources in diplomatic circles revealed the plans of the head of state in an interview with Reuters.

Those close to the president note that the Trump administration has not dealt with the date of a possible meeting of the leaders of the G7 countries, or the agenda of such an event. Nevertheless, it is noted that holding the meeting in an online format is still possible, although work on a joint statement was also not carried out.

Earlier, the House of Representatives adopted a bill aimed at preventing the restoration of the G8 format and Russia's participation in the G7 meetings. In particular, the US authorities are banned from supporting or assisting the Russian side in this.

Trump at the end of May announced the decision to postpone the G7 summit until the fall and invite several third-party states to it. In addition to Russia, it was about Australia, South Korea and India. The American president explained that, in his opinion, the G7 is an “outdated group” of countries. This decision was opposed by the countries of the European Union and Canada.

Russia was a member of the G8 before the annexation of Crimea in March 2014. However, after the referendum on the peninsula, the participating countries decided to abandon the G8 format.

On November 7, Democratic candidate Joe Biden won 290 with the required 270 electoral votes. Having secured his victory, he proclaimed himself the president-elect of the United States. Trump, in turn, said that the elections are not officially over yet, and the results will be appealed in court. He believes that Biden was quick to name himself the country's new leader.
