Trump's lawyer explained his words about the fight with a reference to

Rudy Giuliani

US President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani made a reference to Game of Thrones, convincing The Hill correspondent Brett Samuels that he did not call on supporters of the head of state to pogrom and violence. The journalist posted an excerpt from the interview on his Twitter.

Giuliani remembered Game of Thrones as “a documentary series about a fictional medieval England.” He cited as an example the moment when the dwarf character Tyrion Lannister was looking for a champion who would fight for him. The lawyer emphasized that when speaking in a public speech about “trial by duel”, he meant exactly the legal clash of the parties.

“It was not speech that kindled emotions. (…) It is very typical for the false press to take words out of context, ”Giuliani said, referring to the interpretation of his words as a call to storm the Capitol.

According to The Hill, according to the lawyer, the president is not responsible for what happened in Washington shortly after his speech, and the assault is a provocation of anti-fascist movements. The FBI, in turn, has already noted that this is an unlikely version.

Earlier on January 14, Trump said that his true associates cannot support political violence and offend their fellow citizens. In addition, they are incapable of attacking police officers or disrespecting the “great American flag”. Trump stressed that everyone responsible for the riots in Washington will be held accountable.

The storming of the Capitol in the United States took place on January 6 during a rally of supporters of the current head of state, who do not recognize the results of the November vote, which resulted in the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president. The protests led to clashes with the police. Five people died, dozens were detained.

The Democrats accused the incumbent president of inciting rebellion and voted to impeach him in the House of Representatives. Now the resolution of impeachment will be sent to the Senate. A past attempt by the Democrats to impeach a Republican president failed at this stage. In addition, there is a possibility that the upper house simply will not have time to vote on the initiative before the expiration of Trump's presidential term on January 20.
