Trump wanted to make money on deductions from social networks for the subscribers brought

Former US President Donald Trump, after being ousted from Twitter, YouTube and Facebook, began negotiations on possible cooperation with at least three social media developers.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.

According to the publication, Trump is considering the appearance on the popular American conservative social network CloutHub, which positions itself as “an impartial platform of people dealing with significant civil, social and political issues.”

In addition, the former president is considering an alternative to Facebook, FreeSpace, as well as Canadian video hosting Rumble, which could replace YouTube's policies. All of them are far behind the market leaders in terms of audience coverage.

WSJ sources said Trump wants to borrow money from companies interested in accessing their platform. This is due to the fact that the former head of state can, thanks to his media presence, bring millions of users. On Twitter alone, Trump had almost 89 million followers, on Instagram about 25 million.

As one of the interlocutors of the newspaper said, Trump plans to receive from social networks something like royalties. But he is not considering acquiring a stake in their business.

General ban and own social network

Trump's problems with well-known social networks began after protests in January against the results of the presidential elections in the United States, when dozens of demonstrators stormed the Capitol. The riots began on January 6. On that day, the Senate, sitting in the Capitol, was supposed to approve the election results and the victory of Trump's rival, Joe Biden.

The very next day, Twitter, first temporarily and then permanently, blocked Trump's account, seeing incitement to violence and extremism in his posts and calls to supporters. Twitter's example was followed by Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitch. Moreover, in the spring, Twitter began to block accounts created for reposting the statements of the ex-president banned from the social network.

In early May, Trump launched his own online platform to communicate with his supporters. Communication there is one-sided: the politician has not yet risked allowing subscribers to leave comments on their appeals.
