Trump topped 2020 admiration rating

by alex

Current US President Donald Trump topped the list of the most admired men in the US in 2020. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted annually by the sociological service Gallup.

For 12 years before that, former US President Barack Obama became the leader of the rating annually, but this year Trump managed to overtake his predecessor by 3 percent. In addition to them, the top 10 includes US President-elect Joe Biden, US chief infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci, Pope, entrepreneur Elon Musk, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, basketball player LeBron James and the Dalai Lama.

Among women, the main object of admiration was Barack Obama's wife Michelle. Leading positions in the ranking were also taken by the elected Vice President Kamala Harris, Donald Trump's wife Melania, TV presenter Oprah Winfrey, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, Judge Amy Connie Barrett of Sweden and Greta Thunberg.

Last week, USA Today and the University of Suffolk published the results of a joint study that showed that the majority of American voters developed a negative attitude towards the Trump presidency. Just over 50 percent of voters surveyed said Trump would go down in history as a failed president. 16 percent called the politician a great president, another 13 percent – a good one. 16 percent of respondents rated Trump's presidency as acceptable, while 4 percent refrained from answering.
