Trump is outraged by the leak of information about the bombing of Iran and is offended by Congress and intelligence.
The White House plans to limit the sharing of classified information with Congress after an internal assessment was leaked showing that the bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities on Saturday was not as successful as President Trump claimed.
Axios reports this, citing its own sources.
According to the publication, the FBI is investigating the information leak.
It is noted that the “leak” of the previous “Battle Damage Assessment” from the US Defense Intelligence Agency angered Trump and senior US officials, and its publication was aimed at undermining Trump's claims that Iran's nuclear facilities had been “destroyed.”
“We are declaring war on those who leak information,” a senior White House official said Wednesday.
Trump administration sources say they plan to limit publication on CAPNET, the system the administration uses to share classified information with Congress.
Media reports indicated that Iran's nuclear program had been delayed by only a few months, not “destroyed.”
Democrats in Congress were already outraged by this information, as well as by the administration's refusal to hold a briefing.
But Trump administration officials remain unperturbed.
“Imagine this: Almost immediately after we posted the information on CAPNET, it leaked. There is no reason to do it again,” said another Trump administration source.
The publication also notes that since his first run for president in 2016, when his campaign was investigated for ties to Russia, Trump has been deeply suspicious of the intelligence community.
“Trump believes there are spies in the intelligence community who hate his guts,” one adviser said.
Let us recall that at today's press conference during the NATO summit in The Hague, Donald Trump once again assured that Iran's nuclear facilities had been destroyed and complained about “fake news”.
